UKIP are always making the headlines some way or another. Recently, their support of legalizing fox hunting has been brought to light.
Fox hunting originated in the 16th century and is an activity involving the tracking, chase, and sometimes killing of a fox, traditionally a red fox by dogs such as foxhounds. They are led by hunters on horseback. There has been a ban on the sport in Great Britain since 2005.
Arguments for lifting the ban are that it rids the streets of vermin and keeps down over population of the animals in urban areas. Wait a minute. Fox hunting doesn't take place in your local high street, it's in the countryside. So, it does nothing for ridding us of the 'pests'.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage was spotted greeting huntsmen of the Old Surrey Burstow and West Kent Hunt before a legal Boxing Day chase.
However, foxes contribute greatly to the community by not only keeping down the number of smaller animals such as rats that we find a nuisance but also getting rid of unwanted waste, thus keeping our environment cleaner.
It's hard to imagine that in today's enlightened and modern society how supposedly intelligent people can glean pleasure from such a barbaric and bloodthirsty act - killing a helpless animal purely for fun.
Besides, without the red beauties we wouldn't have such amazing crunch creams.
